Get Extension

This privacy policy explains how Veylo ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our browser extension and website.

The Current Test Build

The current test build of the Veylo browser extension is designed with a local-first architecture. This means:

  • No Remote Data Collection: We do not collect, store, or transmit your messages, group names, invite codes, or member lists to our servers.
  • Local Storage: All data generated by the extension (including broadcast history, drafts, settings, and profile information) is stored locally within your browser using the Chrome/Edge Extension Storage API.
  • No Analytics: We currently do not use tracking or analytics software within the extension.

Browser Permissions Explained

To function properly, the extension requires certain permissions:

  • storage: Used to save your settings, drafts, and group data locally on your device.
  • tabs & scripting: Used to detect the active tab and inject the visual broadcast overlay when a message is sent.
  • alarms: Used to support the five-hour notification pause and reminder behavior.
  • host permissions (http://*/*, https://*/*): Required so broadcasts can appear over whichever website you are currently browsing. Veylo does not read or collect the content of the websites you visit.

Website and Contact

This website is a static information site. Its code does not set advertising cookies, run analytics, create user accounts, or submit a hidden contact form. If you select the email link, your email application and email provider handle the message you choose to send. The hosting provider may keep ordinary technical server logs, such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and timestamp, under its own operational and security practices.

Sharing, Selling, and Retention

Veylo does not sell personal information. The current extension does not send locally stored group or message data to Veylo servers. The extension keeps only the newest five broadcast-history items per local group. Email messages sent to the contact address may be retained as needed to respond and maintain a support record.

Your Controls

You can edit your local display name and avatar in the extension. You can clear Veylo's local data through your browser's extension storage controls or by removing the extension. Removing local data cannot be undone.

Current Limits and Future Changes

The current test build does not provide hosted cross-computer synchronization or user authentication. As we move toward a production release, we may introduce a hosted service to enable those capabilities. If the architecture changes, this policy will be updated before that release so the data flows and choices are clear.

Policy Updates

We may update this policy as Veylo changes. The date at the top of this page will show when the current version took effect.
